cranberry hootycreeks (wait, what?)

i have no earthly idea what a “hootycreek” is. and actually, if you google “hootycreek”, half the blog posts that pop up start with a similar confusion. but whatever it is, it is delicious. (god, i hope it’s not something horribly dirty in real life). i got this genius recipe-in-a-jar from co-worker W. and as i am feeling rather lazy tonight, i decided to make ’em.

pre-heat your oven to 350.

mix together 1 stick butter, 1 egg, and 1 tsp vanilla. in the future, i might up this to 2 eggs, because the result was very crumbly.

doesn’t that look appetizing? mmmmm baking, full of things that vaguely resemble half-digested oatmeal. sorry. sometimes my filter turns off, and i say horrific things like the earlier statement.

add in the jar of goodness, mix. i was able to dissect the jar a bit (or, looked at the side of the jar and identified the objects within). you’ve got brown sugar, white sugar, flour, oats, cranberries, walnuts (i think), and white chocolate chips. probably salt and either baking powder or soda.

bake 8-10 minutes, and cookies! as you can see, we had one or two (fine. three…) casualties and so i had to take one for the team and eat them all.

i am such a hero.

next post will be something along the lines of “epic fail focaccia”. the focaccia (focaccias? focacciae?) are in the oven now and (oh! duh. focaccia loaves) one is clearly the lesser loaf. first bread-making effort, and whatnot. one will be more edible than the other. i will need to post tomorrow in order to give myself some time to recuperate from what will inevitably be a sad sad focaccia.
