step one: make the cookies

by on May 13, 2010

alright, y’all. get ready for an awe-inspiringly delicious recipe.

are you ready?

are you sitting down?

no? okay. sit down.

okay. NOW you’re ready.

chocolate chocolate-ship cookies with mocha cream frosting.

pre-heat the oven to 325.

mix together 1 cup flour, three tablespoons unsweetened cocoa, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt (and get a sifter out, you’ll need that to break up the cocoa powder)

mix together 1 stick butter, 2/3 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup sugar.

add one egg….

and 1 teaspoon instant coffee crystals, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 teaspoons water. and y’all? BAKING ISN’T PRETTY. get over it. man up. there is no room for wimps in my kitchen.

sift in the dry ingredients, then mix together.

definitely taste-test this dough. y’know, just in case it isn’t good. you know what? IT ISN’T GOOD. no. it’s not! it’s FREAKING DELICIOUS.

add two cups (yes, two) chocolate chips to the dough, and mix together.

onto greased cookie sheets, put tablespoonfuls of dough onto the sheets, and bake for 13 minutes. or 15. or until the cookies are slightly firm, and not shiny on top. sure. okay.

delightful. let them cool on the cookie sheets for a little, then transfer them to a rack to cool.

and do not eat them yet.

stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on the frosting to go into the cookie sandwiches.
